Since 1977, the “Foggs” have performed Morris Dancing throughout Washington, D.C., Maryland and Virginia — and even in other states and countries! We dance, we sing, we drink (not always in that order) and we’re happy to invite you to join us.
Morris dancing is an athletic traditional dance from England. Shakespeare called it old but it has been practiced in the United States for over a hundred years. For us it’s a living tradition, our repertoire is made of and informed by the old as much as the new.
We perform for ourselves and other teams on the street and for hire at places like PIKEtoberfest and May Day at Historic St. Mary’s.
The Foggy Bottom Morris Men hold weekly open practices and will teach you to dance if you decide to join. Our members are a variety of people with many different backgrounds. If you think you can’t dance and sing we will change your mind! We practice every Thursday at Knock on Wood studio in Takoma, Washington, D.C.
